Survival Never Looked Prettier

Fun Fonts, Interesting Graphics, and Cheesy Stock Photos

Family Vacation Survial Guide

It’s 5:00pm on Friday afternoon and I’m sitting here daydreaming about being inside this website right now,  "surviving" my family vacation.  Despite it’s fun homepage and flashy intro, it’s really just a blog…which is very interesting to me.  Here are some quick things I’d like to point out that grab my attention:

  • I like the white text over the slightly darker shade box on the photo.  This is hard to pull off on the web, but  they did a nice job.

  • I’m really digging the white and teal script font.

  • The brown gradient is a nice balance to the somewhat busy header.

  • This is totally just a "extra", but I’m in love with the plane that flies off the page.  Too cute…

If you’re planning a family vacation and for some reason don’t think you’ll survive it - oooorrrr, you just want to take a look around their unique website, visit http://familyvacationsurvivalguide.com/

Modern Day Cut and Paste

The American Institute of Architects Builds a Great One

Sometimes I get so sick and tired at looking at all of the over-designed, over-colored, and quite frankly,  over-whelming sites that populate the web today.  To come across this website for The American Institute of Architects was extremely refreshing.  It’s an example of the perfect mix between a "cut and paste" style and modern simplicity. I love the hard edges mixed with highlights and reflections.

I also admire how the space seems to appear so open and free of boundries…especially since it represents nothing but structures and walls!
